The major Internet marketing gurus all know that the most important part of their business is their list of people who have agreed to receive email. These people are members of the marketer's opt-in email list.

Most experienced marketers know that getting people to opt-in to their mailing lists is an important part of their marketing effort. Perhaps it is the most important effort.

Emailing your opt-in list can often result in hundreds or even thousands of dollars in profits in a few hours. That's why an opt-in email list is so important.

Often the Internet marketing gurus keep several lists. The most valuable list is the list of those people who have purchased the guru's products. These people are proven buyers. And, they have built a level of respect for the guru and his recommendations. As such, they are often receptive to recommendation to purchase other products.

The other lists are those who are interested, but not yet buyers of the guru's products. While there may be more non-buyers on these lists than on the buyer's list, these people also often buy based on the guru's recommendations.

Internet marketers can build a list by offering website visitors a free ebook or report in exchange for their name and email address. Often, the ebook or report has links to various affiliate program products that can make the marketer some immediate money.

Building a list is all about building relationships. As you email your list with valuable tips or recommendations, you will be building a trusting relationship with those on your list. This makes your subscribers even more valuable.
