Lead Development and Management
If you are marketing on the Internet, you are looking for leads. Getting targeted leads who are interested in your product or service is how you make money. If you are not putting your message in front of people who are interested in what you have to offer, you're not making money Lead generation campaigns are intended to build your mailing list. You've probably heard someone say that "the money is in the list." Well, if it's a targeted list, that is very true. A good targeted list is worth its weight in gold. One way to increase your list quickly is through a joint venture (JV). For our purposes, a joint venture is a cooperative effort on the part of two Internet marketers. You agree to market each other's products and any new visitors that sign up for your mailing list are yours to keep. Getting sales of your products directly from the emails is just a side benefit from your joint venture. Many people submit articles to ezine publishers and article directories. Each article will have a section about the author with a link to your site. As people publish these articles, either in an ezine or on the web, you will get visitors to your site who may join your email list. You can also use pay per click advertising such Goggle AdWords to advertise your site and draw in interested leads. Though there is a cost per click, you will reap benefits in the long term as you email people who sign up for your emails. Once people get to your site, there are several techniques many people use to encourage visitors to join the email lists. One is through popups with information about a free ebook or some other benefit. To get the free ebook they will need to give their name and email address to joining your list. Another way is to use a "squeeze page" the requires the visitor to provider their name and email address to access the content they wanted to see. You should be careful that only people who are interested in your product or service come to your site. It is a waste of bandwidth to email people who have no interest in what you are offering. You also need to be careful how you email members of your list. SPAM filtering has greatly reduced the number of emails reaching intended recipients. Not only do many filters remove emails based on target words in your email, but some services never deliver emails from some senders. If you maintain your email list on your server and send emails from your server, there is a good chance that many of your emails will never get delivered. Internet service providers that funnel emails to their clients often filter out emails from URLs they consider to be sending SPAM. For this reason many people suggest that you use a dedicated mailing list service like Aweber. They work hard to keep their URL white-listed by all the major Internet service providers. We hope the following lead development and management resources will be valuable in your marketing efforts.
