Real Permission MarketingOpt-In Mailing ListsPublish a Newsletter or eZineWhat is the most important action to take in Internet marketing? Capture the email address. Why? The vast majority of all sales take place after several contacts. When a potential customer leaves their email address they are giving you permission to contact them. You may offer to answer a specific question or provide more detail about a particular aspect of your product. The potential customer should expect an email answer to their concern. This can be accomplished with a single response autoresponder. Within your message you provide one more more links back to your site and ask the customer to return to buy the product. You may be offering additional information about your product. The potential customer should expect several emails from you explaining the details. This can be accomplished with a multiple response autoresponder. Each message asks the customer to return to buy the product. Again: Capture the email address. Internet marketing professions know that repeated contacts produce results. Most sales occur after several contacts. Most sales occur after the customer becomes familiar with the product's benefits and the Website owner--through repeated contacts. Why are 95% of all Web sites not making money? Because, once a customer leaves, they never come back. Repeated follow-up is the key. You must have a monthly or even weekly newsletter or eZine. Visitors to your site must subscribe. They must give you permission to email them again and again. How Do I Contact People? There are several way to send your ads to people. Keeping in touch with people over a period of time is the best way.
FFA Pages FFA stands for Free For All links pages. You've probably seen these pages. A FFA page is broken into categories. Each category has, perhaps, a hundred or more links to Web pages. There's also a submission form for visitors to add a link to their Web page. Many people submit their sites to FFA pages. Submission engines like Jim Tools will add your site to hundreds of FFA pages. People submitting to FFA pages want the maximum exposure and they figure that FFA pages are another means of attracting people to their sites. If you're not familiar with an FFA page, please visit mine at MultiLinks Network. Click to some of the Web sites on the FFA page. You'll see a lot of interesting sites. But, more importantly, after a couple of minutes hit "Refresh" or "Reload" on your browser. Notice that the first link in a category has moved down. That's how fast people are adding links to my FFA page. In fact, because there are a limited number of links retained on the page, new links often remain on the page for only an hour or two. As you can tell, that's not doing much to attract people to their site. But it does do something for me. MultiLinks Network automatically captures the email address of those who put their link on any their FFA pages. They post each ad on my FFA page. I get to send a confirmation email to each person who posts their link on my FFA page. The MultiLinks Network has thousands of FFA pages. Anytime someone adds their link to any of these pages, it shows up on my page. I send over 500 confirmation emails a day to people who post their link on my FFA page. And each confirmation email is really an ad for one of the products I'm selling. If you are interested in advertising this way, please visit the MultiLinks Network FFA Page. Your Own Search Engine Promoting your Website with confirmation emails has taken a new twist. Using Email Promoter you can actually have your own search engine on your site. When someone submits their site to your search engine, you send them a confirmation email. And, your site will receive over 1,000 submission per day. You will own such a search engine and it will be hosted on Email Promoter's servers. They will make sure your search engine receives more than thousand submissions per day from ever changing web site owners around the Internet. This will trigger your search engine to send out it's confirmation emails containing your promotional message. You can imagine that when you would use submission services you would get a lot of these confirmation emails. The message coming from your Email Promoter won't stand out from the rest. That is why they have included a built in delay. Your Email Promoter will send out its promotional confirmation messages fully automatically 1, 2, 3 or even 8 or 10 days later! In other words the web site owner who submitted his web site to the search engines will receive a confirmation email 10 days later in his mailbox. Your message will be delivered alone and will have the full attention of the receiver. Spam? No, that's not something you eat. It's unwanted junk email. How many emails do you delete each day? If you're like me, it's at least a hundred. Spammers send email to everyone. There are programs that specialize in grabbing email addresses from newsgroups and other sources. They allow the blasting of email to everyone, regardless of whether or not the subject of the email interests those receiving the email. It's really junk mail, but delivered electronically. And people with Web sites pay handsomely for a mailing organization to send out that spam. Is it effective? Yes, there are always a few who will read the message and respond. but, it's not professional and I don't recommend it. Newsletters and eZines Frankly, the purpose of the "one shot" contacts described above is to get people to your site. Once they get there, your site must encourage them to sign up for additional emails. Your Web site must contain an HTML FORM to capture email addresses. Once you do, you can email what you promised when they signed up. You may email a monthly newsletter or an electronic magazine (eZine). Each newsletter or eZine will include an informative article or two plus some ads. The ads can be your own, or your can sell ad space in your publication. Your mailing list must be maintained and kept up-to-date. People will constantly subscribe and unsubscribe. Automated mailing list software or service providers can handle this easily. This saves you a lot of time and effort. There are a number of providers of mailing list services. Most are fee-based. One that appears to be of good quality that is free is: There are other "free" sources of mailing lists. Some of them will add their own ads to your outgoing emails. This can detract from your sales message. Check them out before you commit to using their services. A fee-based organization that provides high quality services, including mailing lists is: Postmaster Online provides many services including allowing you to manage multiple eZines, have 50 autoresponders, track responses, and automatically create Web FORMS. They also provide in depth training in the theory and practice of Internet marketing. Postmaster charges a monthly fee, but many highly successful Internet professions are loyal customers. You should check them out. The Bottom Line The bottom line is the main measure of your success. If you want people to buy your products, you must maintain contact with them. Websites that hope for a sale from one-time visitors are on the bottom rung of the financial ladder. If you hope to move up, you must capture the email address of as many visitors as possible. You can then maintain contact and repeatedly present your sales message. Copyright © 2001 Robert Sherman |
